Warwick Castle

Sunday, December 16th, 2012

It was cold, wet and windy as we approached the majestic and spooky looking Warwick Castle, After settling in and taking a small tour of the building, we began our vigils. The Witches room seemed to be inhabited by a tall, over-bearing man who wanted to put the table from one room into the next. The table tipping was SO energetic that we were able to place just one finger each UNDERNEATH the table, and it still moved violently around the room. We managed to get a couple of brave volunteers to go into the adjoining room alone – better them than me !

The chapel was also a very active area with K2 meters responding to our requests and also the very strange phenomena of spirit turning an IPhone off and on in response to our requests during the night.

The Ouija board produced some interesting information about people who once lived within the Castle grounds, and the stand alone vigils in the Kingmake section had Lee, one of our guests, feeling very wobbly and shaky, almost as though he was being pushed over !

A great night, all in all and we look forward to returning in 2013.

Secret rooms uncovered at Warwick Castle

Report & Video by Mark Morris

Time Team’s Tony Robinson has opened four never-seen-before rooms at Warwick Castle, including one designed by Richard III.

The rooms have remained closed for generations, and when they were uncovered, they revealed secrets and stories about the castle’s past.

Tony said: “I’m quite giddy to be the first person to see inside these rooms and to officially open them to the public.

“I’ve spent many years searching for exactly this – clues and evidence to unlock secrets from the past.”

The rooms opened on February 16, in time for half term.

Visitors will have the chance to seek a shy ghost, explore a deadly bear’s lair and smell foul medieval sludge.

Dusk Till Dawn Events Ghost Hunt at The Cage Witches Prison St Osyth – 6th October 2012 – By Mediums Sue & Michael Treanor

Sunday, December 2nd, 2012

We arrived at The Cage in Essex for a night of ghost hunting a bit worse for wear after a nightmare on the M25, but once we met our guests and got settled in, we really began to soak up the atmosphere of the place..

There was a small room connected to the kitchen area which we all said felt very spooky once the lights were out – I felt very pulled to one of the corners and also the wall which went through to the sitting room. During my table tipping sessions in there, the table literally walked towards the connecting wall over and over again.  Both groups picked up and a man, a woman and a child in this room although he man was the dominating presence. I smelled straw a couple of times, very strongly, and we also had some tapping noises on the table. At one point we thought the group upstairs were running up and down the stairs, but when I shouted up and asked if they had moved, they said there were all sitting on the floor using the Ouija boards! In our second group in this area, several people also heard some very loud growls, 2 or 3 times.

The Cage Mediaeval Witch Prison St Osyth Essex

In the living room area, the table tipped very well again, and again, it seemed to be moving itself towards the connecting wall to the kitchen. We asked if anyone was buried or had died under this wall and the table went wild!  At one point a lady in the group was very, very, frightened by what she described as a hand, which grabbed and pulled her pinkie finger as she was table tipping. At this point, there was enough light from the window for us to see that it definitely was not anyone within the group who had touched her. She took a few minutes to calm down, but like a true ghost hunter, she carried on with the session in the dark! Well done!

As scratching noises have been reported from beneath the toilet floor, we asked one of our group (Dave) to do a lone vigil in the toilet, and although he heard noises, he said he couldn’t be sure where they were coming from.

Upstairs on the Ouija board, both groups received the same answers as to how many spirits inhabit the house (10) and one group got the name ‘Cassie’ the other ‘Carrie’ – very similar. The name Bill was also picked up, an angry man who seemed to like being in the main, larger, bedroom. Michael had picked up earlier that someone had hung themselves just outside this room, which one of the guests confirmed to us (the owner had told the story before we arrived) – could it have been Bill?

This room also produced strange phenomena, in that it became very, very hot (although the rest of the house was cold) and people’s arms and hands seem to be lifted as we formed a circle and asked out to spirit.

All in all, an active nights ghost hunting at The Cage !!

Woodchester Mansion Ghost Hunt 5th March 2011

Friday, March 25th, 2011
View of Woodchester Mansion showing the south ...

Present : Mediums  Sue and Michael Treanor

Host: Jayne Matthews

Group of members of the general public.

Woodchester  Mansion is one of my favourite ghost hunt locations, not only because it is very haunted, but also because of its amazing gothic architecture.  The stone carvings at Woodchester are amongst the finest in the world of their type. For this reason, apprentice stone masons can learn the art of stone carving here.  On 5th March when we visited, there was a new carving in the base room – that of a monkey-like gargoyle. I immediately took a dislike to it – it reminded me of one of the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz. It was showing its bared teeth, and held an owl in its arms.

There is an elemental energy which still stalks the corridors of Woodchester Mansion.  An Elemental is a creature which has been created from energy, usually with the power of the element it is made from. For instance, a fire elemental would have the power of fire. The elemental at Woodchester has been formed from fear and it has the power to bring out our strongest fears. Who made it? I don’t know.   Perhaps it was made by a person, or perhaps over the years, so many people have felt fear at Woodchester,  the elemental formed itself from that fear. To me, it can look like a rabid dog (and many growls have been heard at the mansion) or sometimes, I have seen it look like a hairless monkey with a wizened face and sharp claws and teeth. Not unlike the carving which we saw as we entered the building. I didn’t mention this to any of the guests, and we proceeded with ghost hunt as usual. Before we started I did as I always do and ran through a short protection exercise with all the attendees.

The ghost hunt was eventful – we had seen lights, heard noises including a few growls) and heard whispers and rappings. As we came to the last hour or so of the ghost hunt, we split into our smaller groups.

My group took the bathroom. This is another location which is very dark energetically. Many mediums feel there has been a rape in this bathroom, and also that some rituals may have taken place there.  I asked one of the ladies to lie in the bath to see how the energy felt whilst the rest of us formed a circle in the pitch black. There were two young men in the circle, both of whom had never done ghost hunting before, but who were very open and had picked up things well all night.

One of the young men said “ooh, something has just touched my hand” – and then all hell seemed to let loose!  As we scrambled to turn on the torches, the man who had been touched seemed to be crouching on the floor and snarling. He looked for all the world like the monkey carving in the base room!

I stepped in and broke the circle and he looked at us wide-eyed and said “what happened? All  I remember saying was ‘someone touched my hand’”

After making sure he was OK (and the rest of the group of course) we continued a vigil on the 1st floor.   Some of the guests had brought Glen Miller music to play to try and lure the spirits out, and this did seem to be working. Then, all of a sudden, from the floor above us, we heard a very loud growl . That was enough for the group! The elemental was on the prowl again!

All in all another amazing night at Woodchester Mansion.  My next blog will be on Alton Towers. Happy Ghost Hunting everyone!

Sue Treanor.
